Created after a winter artist residency in the highlands of Virginia Highlands, this abstract triptych reflects the quiet intensity of a landscape shaped by snow, cold air, and long stretches of stillness.
During the residency, the environment was defined by muted colors, layered textures, and shifting winter light. These impressions translated into overlapping organic shapes and rhythmic patterns that echo the contours of hills, frozen ground, and drifting snow. The cool palette of deep blues, slate tones, and pale neutrals evokes the atmosphere of a winter landscape, while warmer browns suggest the bare trees and earth beneath the snow.
